Dr. Jude Carriker Gentry, a former resident of Hoquiam and graduate of Hoquiam High School, will discuss and sign her debut novel, "Purgatory, AZ." A futuristic penal colony is the setting for Gentry's story of family, faith and forgiveness. Books will be available to purchase at the event.

Caring for someone with memory loss? Need support and information? Alzheimer's Association caregiver support groups provide a place for caregivers to learn and gain support from others caring for a person with memory loss. Support groups also serve as an opportunity for participants to receive information on care management, available services, and current research and treatment options. A free support group for unpaid care partners, family members and friends of individuals with memory loss will be held the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 1:00 - 2:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen, 420 N. Sep 20    Grays Harbor Volunteer Search and Rescue Golf Tournament
Grays Harbor Volunteer Search and Rescue is sponsoring a golf tournament at the Grays Harbor Country Club on Saturday, September 20th. This will be a 4-person scramble with a shotgun start, and all levels of golfers are welcome. The $75 registration fee includes 18 holes of golf as well as a catered lunch, and there will be a few surprises also. Attached is the registration form. Also, we are looking for businesses/organizations, or individuals, to sponsor holes for a $75 donation. This sponsorship will get your company's name at a tee box and is a great way to advertise as well show that your company supports local organizations at the same time. Registration is on a first come first serve basis up to 18 teams. Come on out and support Grays Harbor Volunteer Search and Rescue. We look forward to seeing you there!

Welcome to the 3nd Annual Salmon Tales Festival in Westport Washington. The history of salmon sportfishing in our community is long and colorful. Hundreds of thousands of people have visited Westport in pursuit of salmon and thousands of skippers & deckhands have worked here.

During this exciting two day event we will hold the Pacific Northwest's Biggest Smoked Salmon Competition with pro smokers competing for bragging rights! Located across the lawn will be our Beer Garden featuring Westport Brewing Company selections! Sep 27    Composting with Worms
Keep composting all winter indoors! Learn about best practices for worm composting from Chris Koehler of the Washington State University Extension Faculty. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn about feeding, housing and caring for red wigglers and will be able to examine living compost through a microscope. Educational literature will be provided and participants will go home with a working mini worm bin, as long as supplies last. Participants are encouraged to bring gardening gloves. All other materials will be provided.
