SUMMARY:Event at Aberdeen Museum
DESCRIPTION:Stephanie Coontz\, a nationally recognized expert on marriage and families\, will be the featured speaker at an Aberdeen Museum event titled "An Evening with the Women of Grays Harbor" at 6 p.m. on June 7. Coontz\, a professor at The Evergreen State College\, is the author of "Marriage\, A History." Her work has been featured in the New York Times\, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post. She has appeared on Oprah Winfrey\, the Today Show\, National Public Radio and several television documentaries. FREE ADMISSION\, however donations excepted. The event is designed to bring attention to women's roles in the development of the Harbor and their role in history in general. The museum will also have women "in character" throughout the building\, and a few selected vignettes. The Aberdeen Museum of History hopes it will raise awareness of its own Women of Grays Harbor project. The event will also help the Washington State Women's Consortium build toward the celebration of women's suffrage next year.
