The McCleary Historical Society

About Us

Established in 1976, the McCleary Historical Society had a museum located in the Carnell House. In May of 2021 the society acquired a new home, the former Methodist Church, with a mission to preserve both the building and the history of McCleary.
The new (old) building houses museum displays, a research library and archives, curator’s office, a visitors’ center and event center. These spaces are used to enlighten patrons to the wonders of McCleary’s past, to give a snapshot of the area as it currently exists, and to provide a venue for gatherings and entertainment to the community.
