Alien Encounters: Sci-Fi Movies and t...
Description
Consider how the future looked in films of the Fahrenheit 451 era. Join author, film reviewer and lecturer Robert Horton for an intriguing discussion on the political and social anxieties of the Cold War and how they affected Sci-Fi movies of the 1950s. Included is Ray Bradbury's 1953 flying saucer film, "It Came From Outer Space." Comparisons will be drawn with films of later decades. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Aberdeen Timberland Library. This event ends after the library closes at 7 p.m. and no other services will be available. This program is part of Timberland Reads Together: Fahrenheit 451, Timberland Regional Library’s one book-one community reading initiative for 2012.
