Mahatma Gandhi is regarded as one of the great men of the 20th century for introducing nonviolence as a way to oust the British Empire from India. Bernie Meyer portrays the historic Gandhi in six scenes, illuminating significant events of his life and his nonviolent teachings. Afterwards, Meyer conducts a discussion with the audience. Sponsored by the Friends of the Aberdeen Timberland Library, this program is part of the annual September Project, an international grassroots effort to encourage events exploring freedom, justice, democracy and community in libraries around the world during September. (http://theseptemberproject.org) The program takes place after the library closes. No other library services will be available.
