Description

Celebrate Día de los Muertos in Seabrook on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31 with a weekend of creativity, remembrance, and community. Rooted in Mexican traditions honoring loved ones who have passed, the celebration brings families together through a community ofrenda, hands-on activities, music, dance, art, and a remembrance procession through town.

Special thanks to event sponsor Our Secret Garden of Seattle for generously sharing their time, talents, and cultural knowledge to help bring the traditions of Día de los Muertos to life in Seabrook.

Friday: Community Creation Day

1:00–6:00 PM at Town Hall

Preparing for Día de los Muertos is part of the celebration itself. In many Mexican communities, families and neighbors gather to create decorations, prepare offerings, and share stories of loved ones.

Join us at Town Hall to take part in that spirit of togetherness. Make paper marigolds, craft papel picado, decorate memory butterflies, and help build Seabrook’s community ofrenda, a shared altar of remembrance.

Guests are invited to bring a photo or memory of someone they love to contribute to the ofrenda while helping create the colorful pieces that will become part of Saturday’s celebration. All ages are welcome, and no crafting experience is needed.

Saturday: Día de los Muertos Celebration

Saturday’s celebration begins at 11:00 AM at Town Hall, where guests can explore the community ofrenda, art displays, and Memory Butterfly Wall while crafts and community activities continue throughout the day.

From 1:00–3:00 PM, guests can take part in calavera face painting and dress-up at Town Hall, while Catrinas and Catríns welcome guests and pose for photos.

At 3:00 PM, Teocalli Coatlicue Seattle takes to Market Street for an Aztec dance presentation. Beginning at 3:30 PM, guests will gather on Front Street in preparation for the procession.

At 4:00 PM, the Dance & Remembrance Procession begins, led by dancers alongside mariachi, Catrinas, Catríns, and community participants as they make their way back to Town Hall. Food will be available for purchase beginning at 4:30 PM, with mariachi music continuing through 6:00 PM.

In Partnership with Our Secret Garden of Seattle

Seabrook is proud to welcome Our Secret Garden of Seattle, a Seattle-based florist, as an event sponsor and cultural contributor to this year’s Día de los Muertos celebration. Along with supporting the event, their team has helped bring together the performers, entertainment, and cultural elements that shape the weekend’s activities.

Our Secret Garden is a longtime supporter of Latino culture, community, and organizations throughout the Seattle area, with a commitment to sharing Latino heritage in a welcoming, generous, and inclusive way.

At the heart of their work is the belief that culture grows stronger when it is shared. Día de los Muertos brings people together across backgrounds and generations through art, music, food, remembrance, family, and tradition. Guests are invited to learn, participate, connect, and respectfully share in the celebration throughout the weekend.

Gather and Celebrate

Día de los Muertos activities take place across both Friday and Saturday, with time in between to enjoy Seabrook at your own pace. Explore the beach and trails, stop into town for a meal, and return to Town Hall and Market Street as the weekend’s celebration continues.
