Description
"PATRIOT WEEK 2024" LIBERTY TREE DEDICATION Following an act of defiance against the British Government by Boston Patriots in 1765, an elm tree planted in Boston became a rallying point for the growing resistance by American colonies to British rule. The tree became known as the Liberty Tree. The Liberty Tree was cut down in August 1775 by Loyalists to the Crown. On Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 2:00 pm, Mayor Ben Winkleman of Hoquiam and President Gregory Lucas of the Washington Society of the Sons of the American Revolution will preside the first ever Liberty Tree Dedication in the City of Hoquiam. A Liberty Tree will be planted, along with a plaque honoring the men and women from Hoquiam who served in the Armed Forces of the United States.
