Description
Montesano is having it's very first SummerFest! The event will join forces with the former Festival of People, providing something for everybody. The centerpiece of the festival is the music. SummerFest will begin with a pancake breakfast from 7-11am at the Abel House, 117 Fleet St. S. Car Show registration is set for 8am, viewing available until 3pm, followed by a cruise of the participating vehicles through town. The day will continue with a quilt show at Monte Fitness, a cribbage tournament at the Senior Center at 120 W. Marcy Ave. and a potato salad and chili cookoff, with judging at 4pm on the porch of Abel House.
There will be a slate of Twin Harbor musicians, performing from noon until evening, including Aberdeen singer/songwriter Melina Kastle; Grays Harbor's Ready or not, which has for 20 years been performing rock 'n' roll, some country and music from the '60s to the present; and Raymond guitarist and songwriter Steve Brown, and his band, all in the garden at Abel House. Brown will encore from 7-8pm, then Curtis Salgado, known for his blues singing and harmonica playing, will take over from 8:30-11:30.
