The department is a career (full-time) fire service organization operating out of two fire stations strategically located within the city. Staffed by trained firefighters and officers, it provides all-hazards response, meaning crews are prepared to handle fires, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, and natural disasters.

In addition to emergency response, the department focuses heavily on:

-Fire prevention and inspection programs-
-Public education and community risk reduction
-Disaster preparedness and safety outreach
-Emergency medical transport and care
