The department oversees nearly 20 parks covering about 273 acres, along with an additional 150 acres of developed recreational land throughout the city. These spaces include playgrounds, sports fields, open green areas, and community-use facilities.
Its main goal is to deliver high-quality recreational services and programs that promote health, wellness, and community engagement.
Aberdeen Parks and Recreation offers a wide range of services, including:
-Youth and adult sports leagues (such as basketball, softball, volleyball, and kickball)
-Recreational classes and activities for all age groups
-Facility rentals for events, including community buildings and park spaces
-Community events and festivals that bring residents together
-Park maintenance and urban forestry programs to preserve green spaces
