About Us
Membership is open to all who live, work or worship in Grays Harbor or Pacific Counties and their family members. Businesses with facilities located in either county are also eligible for membership.

Great NorthWest Federal Credit Union was chartered in April 1953 as Shafer Mill Employees Credit Union. When Weyerhaeuser bought out Schafer Mill in 1955, it became Twin Harbors W Credit Union. It was a State chartered credit union serving Weyerhaeuser company employees and their families only. In Pacific County the credit union started at about the same time as a PUD credit union and expanded to take in County employees and eventually as a community charter. It was a Federally chartered credit union. The two credit unions merged in 1982 and the W was dropped and the credit union was simply known as Twin Harbors Credit Union: A State chartered credit union. We then became Twin Harbors Federal Credit Union. And finally, as of 2001 we are known as Great NorthWest Federal Credit Union.
