Grays Harbor College Carpentry Students Build Floor Systems
Grays Harbor College Carpentry Technology students learned about floor systems this quarter. The class focused on two types of systems: dimensional lumber and engineered I-joist. Students also assembled a demonstration model of a truss system. During the first four weeks of fall quarter, Carpentry students built, deconstructed, and rebuilt each type of floor system. This fall, two new deans joined Grays Harbor College, Dr. Aaron Coby, Dean of Arts, Sciences, and Extended Learning, and Cathy LeCompte, Dean of Workforce Education. In addition to Dr. Coby and LeCompte, GHC welcomed CJ Berndt as the Associate Dean of Stafford Creek Corrections Center, replacing Jayme Peterson who retired last summer after nearly 20 years of service.
