Description
Social media critic and geek activist Jennifer Stuller will lead a community conversation about "Using Their Powers for Good: How Geektivists, Geek Grrls, and Gaymers are Creating More Inclusive Communities." Geek culture celebrates fandoms from comics, games, tech and television with costuming and conventions. Stuller will explore how geek culture is using community-building, crowd-sourcing, performance and media criticism to remain progressive. Stuller is a writer, scholar and cofounder of GeekGirlCon?-an organization dedicated to the recognition, encouragement and support of women in geek and pop culture and STEM. This program is co-sponsored by Humanities Washington and the Friends of the Aberdeen Timberland Library.
