The Grays Harbor Music Teachers Association will be holding its annual “Musicale” scholarship benefit concert at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, January 19th at Aberdeen First Presbyterian Church. Each year the Grays Harbor Music Teachers Association awards scholarships to deserving Grays Harbor and Pacific County music students. We raise this money from proceeds from our annual Musicale. In the last 18 years we’ve given over $48,000 to local music students. Those scholarships have allowed a number of our recipients to go on to careers in music. We invite some of Grays Harbor’s finest musicians to donate their performances to the Musicale, which is different every year. This year’s performers are: • KPCP Duo with Ray Kahler, clarinet and Ellen Pickell, piano • Trio with Wendy Koski, French horn, Karen Meikle, violin and Merry Jo Zimmer, piano • String Quartet with Debra Akerlund, violin, Karen Meikle, violin, Leslie O’Brien, viola and John O’Brien, cello • Vocal Ensemble from Grays Harbor College Opera Workshop directed by Ian and Joy Dorsch • Vocal Soloist Ben Fagerstedt, baritone Admission is free and the public is cordially invited to attend. A free will offering will be collected at intermission for the music scholarship fund. A gourmet dessert reception will follow the performance. The church is located at the corner of 4th and Broadway in Aberdeen.
