Bring your dishes to life with inviting visuals. This three-week photography course is designed for chefs, restaurant teams, hospitality professionals, or students looking to build a portfolio. You'll learn the essentials of food styling, layout and media constraints, and lighting to flatter your plate, bottle, or package. Each week includes guided practice to refine your eye, strengthen your technique, and create beautiful images. Whether you're promoting a menu, elevating your brand, or preparing for a career in culinary media, this class will give you the practical skills and creative confidence to make your food look as good as it tastes.

Instructor Mike Penney has been a commercial photographer working in advertising, architecture and product photography since 1985. He also worked for a number of publications (magazines and newspapers and wire services) making photo journalistic images. He has a degree in Journalism from Seattle University plus many hours of professional training from numerous schools and organizations (Maine Photographic Workshop, ASMP, PPA, Kim Weston, etc).

Lighting equipment and food to photograph will be provided. Please bring a camera that allows for manual adjustment for shutter, ISO, and aperture. (Check your phone camera for a "Pro" mode!)
