Harbor Regional Health Ranked No. 1 in Washington for Community Benefit

Harbor Regional Health has been ranked No. 1 in Washington for Community Benefit in the 2026 Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility, a national, independent evaluation of hospital performance across health outcomes, value, and equity. 

For Harbor Regional Health, the recognition is about more than a ranking. It reflects the work of a community hospital that is here when people need emergency care, a safe place to give birth, a specialist close to home, help navigating a difficult diagnosis, or care they might otherwise delay because of cost.

The Lown Institute’s Community Benefit measure considers a hospital’s financial assistance, service to Medicaid patients, and investments that strengthen community health. It recognizes hospitals that make care available to the people who depend on them, including those with the greatest financial barriers.

As Grays Harbor County’s community hospital, Harbor Regional Health provides care across a broad range of needs, from emergency and inpatient care to primary care, specialty services, surgery, cardiac care, and maternity services. Much of that care is provided to people covered by Medicare and Medicaid, programs that often do not fully reimburse the cost of care. The hospital also provides financial assistance and services that are vital to the community but can be difficult to sustain.
 

The Lown recognition affirms that service to the community is not separate from high-quality care. It is part of it.
