Summit Pacific Medical Center, Joined By Lawmakers and Community Members, Celebrates Dual Milestones

(ELMA, WA) – On July 24th, Summit Pacific Medical Center (SPMC) hosted a day of celebration, marking two significant milestones in the center’s expansion and community outreach efforts. The day began with a ribbon-cutting for the new mobile health van generously donated by Wellpoint Washington and concluded with a beam signing ceremony for the expansion project.

State senators Kevin Van De Wege (D) and Jeff Wilson (R) were joined by State representatives, Mike Chapman (D), Steve Tharinger (D), and Jim Walsh (R), for the ceremony, showcasing bipartisan support for SPMC’s initiatives. Elma Mayor Josh Collette and other community dignitaries also attended, highlighting the community’s united front in advancing local healthcare.

“We are thrilled to celebrate these remarkable milestones with our community. The beam signing marks a significant step in our expansion journey, while the ribbon-cutting for the Wellpoint Van represents our commitment to increasing healthcare access for all residents. I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support of SPMC staff, our community members, elected officials, and partners like Wellpoint Washington. Together, we are making a lasting impact on the health and well-being of our community. Thank you for being an essential part of our progress and success.” — Josh Martin, CEO

Ribbon-Cutting for Wellpoint Van

The festivities began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new mobile health van, a generous donation from Wellpoint Washington. This mobile health access point is dedicated to serving residents of rural Grays Harbor County, ensuring essential healthcare services reach those in need. The CEO of Wellpoint Washington, Lisa Bogard, joined the celebration, highlighting the collaborative effort to improve healthcare accessibility across the community.

Beam Signing Ceremony

The celebration continued to honor a significant milestone in the medical center’s expansion. Attendees “made their mark” on the project by signing the final steel beam to be placed in the new structure, symbolizing the community’s collective effort and support for this vital project.

The expansion project, financed through operational planning, revenue bonds and Federal support, aims to enhance essential healthcare services without increasing local taxation. With approximately $60 million in revenue bonds and $2.5 million in federal funding secured with the support of Senator Maria Cantwell’s office, the project is well-positioned for timely implementation and financial stability.
